Is it Lucky Dollar’s Lucky Day?

A public meeting is slated for October 16^th at city all that will change the area significantly. Members of the public are going to have an opportunity to weigh in on several gambling issues, and many have already applied for the right to speak at the forum. If the meeting goes over and there are still those that wish to speak, they will continue for a second day if it is deemed necessary.

They will be discussing the addition of slot machines to the Lucky Dollar Bingo Palace, as well as the rescinding of the zoning bylaw that currently prohibits businesses from having VLTs (video lottery terminals) or slot machines.

Since the city also has to ask local governments for their opinions on the matters, they sent letters to the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, and the Kitselas and Kitsumkalum village governments. They are expected to respond by letter before the date of the hearings.

The local government thinks that the slot machines will be eventually approved to no detriment of the city. They think that slot machines in the bingo hall can only assist them, not hurt them. They do not think that traffic, etc. will be negatively impacted.
