Marati Wants You To Vote No

Jackie Marati wants voters to vote no on Proposal B, which would allow slot machines to come into Guam Greyhound Racetrack. She says that the claims they are making are false and misleading, and come November if the slot machine proposal is allowed then Guam will be in a whole lot of trouble from them.

They say:

Proposal B will bring in $3 million for health care and education.
Proposal B will bring in 500 new jobs.
Local businesses will be revitalized.
They will keep minors out of the casino.

Marati says:

In order for them to bring in $3 million for Guam, residents would have to spend $300 million to get that amount; and only $600,000 is going to education – not the full $3 million.
They are claiming that their 200 slot machines will bring in 500 jobs. This is not true either as they have no evidence of this claim, or does it even make sense.
The casino will take money from local businesses such as restaurants, and the smaller businesses will fail. Only the racetrack will be revitalized.
They will not keep minors out of the casinos; they allow minors in the casino but tell them they cannot play the slot machines. In the ‘80’s people would bring their children into the rooms and let them sleep next to the machine while they played. This same thing will happen again if slot machines are allowed in.

Marati wants to be very clear that the only people who will profit from this venture are those that own Guam Greyhound. Certainly not the people of Guam, they will pay the price over and over again.
