Mohegan Sun Supports the United Way

The Mohegan Sun is gearing up for their big night on November 14^th, when they become the first slot machine casino in Pennsylvania. They are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the remainder of their slot machines, having already received the first batch.

However, they are planning on having “test nights” where they are going to have selected guests come in and play the slot machines to see if everything is working as it should. On two evenings prior to the opening, guests will play the slot machines and the state’s Gaming Control Board will keep watch so that they can ensure that everything is regulated properly. Anyone who actually wins on those evenings will be able to take their money home with them. However, any money that the casino takes in, must be donated to the charity of their choice, and the Mohegan Sun has chosen the United Way of Wyoming Valley to be the recipients of the money.

There has been some speculation as to how much the United Way could net from the preview evenings’ slot machines, but the officials from both the United Way and the casino chose not to make a guess. However, there could be some people with some very big pockets, as the United Way will be calling on people to go and give for charity. They will be responsible for filling the casino both nights, with the first night having a minimum of 1,083 people, the same amount as there are slot machines. The second night they need to have at least 50% more.
