Neal’s Affect on Democrats

John Neal is sitting in prison awaiting his trial for illegal slot machine gambling. He had a regular slot machine ring going on, he had more than 300 slot machines in 23 different locations. He had previously spent time in federal prison for the same thing, but it looks like he went back into the business upon release from prison.

He has been very chummy with a few Democratic Candidates, and some wonder how that will affect the upcoming election in November. The Democrats don’t think that there will be any major fallout for them unless one of them gets linked specifically to one of the criminal charges.

The Republicans think that this is a huge deal, and they want it to become public who Neal has endorsed for office. The Democrats say that the Republicans are just trying to make this a bigger deal than it is so that they can try and get some leverage in the polls. They say they are “grasping at straws” and that the voters know better than to fall for their tricks. Many democrats attended a meeting at one of Neal’s taverns the week before his arrest, but everyone says they were there to discuss the tavern owner’s needs, not to play slot machines.
