With the first slot machine casino opening next month, the Gaming Board has to be able to show that the computer system is safe and secure, and able to handle all that is thrown at it. The system will guarantee that not only are the slot machine players playing machines that are set up fairly, and will pay out a minimum of 85% over a given period of time, but that the numbers of the monies being taken in are accurate as well – so that the state gets their fair share of the slot machine revenue.

The slot machines will actually be tested better than the electronic voting machines were tested. The slot machines have advanced encryption technologies that will keep the slot machines from losing their information if they lose power, which is important when you are dealing with the millions of dollars in slot machine revenue that will be being made on a yearly basis.

The lab will test all of the gaming systems in the slot machines to make sure that they are regulated and that they work with the computer system. There are four systems that have to be checked, and once approved, they can be used in play.
