Penn National Gets Slot LicenseTechnically it is only a conditional or temporary license, but the folks at Penn National Gaming don’t care. They have a Category One slot machine license and they are moving forward faster than ever. They are planning on putting slot machines at their new Hollywood Casino racing and gaming establishment that they are building at Penn National Race Course. They had already begun construction on the place this past August, and were just waiting on the slot machine license. They are planning on bringing in initially 2,000 slot machines, and then expanding from there. The project will cost $310 million, which includes $260 million for construction, as well as the $50 million license fee that they have to pay. They plan on opening in the early part of 2008 if all goes as planned. Eventually they plan on there being 3,000 slot machines, restaurants, bars, parking garage, etc. Eventually they then want to expand this location to add a hotel, retail stores, etc., as well as an additional 2,000 slot machines. This would bring their slot machine total to 5,000 when all construction was completed. This is just one of Penn National’s locations. They have them spread across the United States, as well as one in Ontario. Combines, they have roughly 21,000 slot machines between all 16 facilities. slot machine, slot machine, slot machine, slot machine Back to October Index - Slot Machines Fan |
