The Slots are Coming, the Slots are Coming

It is official – there is no turning back now – the first official slot machines have arrived in Pennsylvania at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. They just accepted delivery of 126 slot machines, and have their grand opening November 14^th.

There will be more slot machines than that of course; they have a total of 1,100 slot machines coming in with the first phase of their casino. The other slot machines have yet to be delivered, but will be in place for the opening.

Everyone is excited, especially those that work for the company. They have been anxiously awaiting the delivery of the slot machines just so it would prove that they would actually have a job. With all of the waiting that they have been doing, some have been getting worried.

When phase two is completed, there will be another 2,000 slot machines as well as retail shops, restaurants, bars, etc. More than 400 have already been hired, and another 600 will be hired with the second phase. Most experts say that you should have roughly 2.5 employees per slot machine being operated – which seems to be off from the figures that the Mohegan Sun is expecting.

They are expecting to begin construction of the second phase early next year, which will provide many other job opportunities as well for construction personnel.
