Stand Alone Slot Machine License

Both Mt. Airy and Pocono Manor are vying for a stand-alone slot machine license, and they won’t know until December who gets the license. That has not stopped either company from making plans to bring in the slot machine license to their neck of the woods. No matter who gets it, Monroe County wins as both locations will bring tourism to the area.

Pocono Manor has been around since 1902 and could become larger than the Quakers that started it ever imagined. Their investors are putting $1.4 billion into capital investments if they get the slot machine license. It will bring in roughly 5,000 construction jobs, 5,000 slot machines, a hotel, and convention center. It will improve on the existing structure but will add lots of amenities to it as well. They have submitted their plans to Tobyhanna Township and are just waiting for approval. They are confident that they will have their doors open no later than two years after they receive the slot machine license.

The Mount Airy Resort and Casino is planning on the slot machine license to give them a much needed boost to their presence in the Poconos. They are planning on demolishing the old resort and starting from scratch with a much larger complex that would house over 3,000 slot machines. IT would have restaurants, a gold course, etc. to keep the slot machine players occupied when not playing. They have all of their site prep work done already, and the old Mount Airy Lodge has already been demolished. They are just waiting for approval on the slot machine license to pour the foundation to the new slot machine haven. They expect to be open between October and November of next year.
