PA State Senate to Vote

The full State Senate is going to be receiving a bill from the State Senate committee that they hope will clear up some of the problems Pennsylvania has been having as of late. The state committed to slot machines years ago, but has not been able to move forward on much of the legislation, as there has been so much fighting over the slot machine law.

The new law will cover several things:
Philadelphia loses zoning authority as to where to place casinos in their city
Remove a provision that currently allows public officials to hold one percent of a gambling interest
Allow the possibility of a slot machine casino near Gettysburg
Clarification on the Right-to-Know law and how it applies to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board
Prevents slot machine parlors that are not part of the racetracks from taking advantage of certain tax breaks
Casinos would not have to comply with local smoking bans
Limits slot machine manufacturers to supplying only fifty percent of the casinos’ slot machines for three years, so that smaller companies can compete

There are those that are adamantly approved to issues that come up in this measure, and there are those who think it is time. The bill goes before the Senate any day now, so it is really up to them.
