Swann Starting to Look GoodUp until now, the race for Pennsylvania’s next governor had been looking like a shoo-in for Ed Rendell – but all of that changed Wednesday night when Rendell and Lynn Swann went head-to-head in a debate. Swann finally looks like he is in the race. With humor and a calm that was amazing, Swann went after Rendell’s record on everything, and answered Rendell’s questions and comments with straightforward answers that the audience ate up. Rendell on the other hand, was starting to look angry and frustrated, and when answering questions launched numbers and such that made the audience look bored. One of the issues the two talked about was slot machines and how they affect Pennsylvania – and if the slot machine situation had been handled effectively up until now. Swann said that Rendell brought in the slot machines to deliver property tax relief, but that it wasn’t working. He said, “…Only one in six Pennsylvanians will benefit [from the slot machine revenue]. What about the other five?" Rendell retorted that Swann’s ideas would not work as well as the slot machines would, and that the slot machines would be bringing in “at least $1 billion toward property tax relief.” He said that it would take some time for the benefits to be seen, and Swann basically said that it was too little too late. slot machine, slot machine, slot machine, slot machine Back to October Index - Slot Machines Fan |
