Ukrainian Gambling Going Legal?

The Ukraine Cabinet has recently issued new licensing rules for all slot machine and gaming operators. In April of this year, they promised a crackdown on all illegal slot machines, and now ban anyone under 18 from either gambling or working in a place that offers slot machines or gambling.

The price for a new license is Hr 1 million – which is $200,000 in American money. Does that seem a little high for a gambling license? It does to a lot of people within the Ukraine. They think that the government is so corrupt that they are making a show of trying to seem like they are going legit, when in all actuality they aren’t. It used to be nothing for anyone, no matter how old you were, to play the slot machines – and this brought in a lot of money for the country. Opponents say that the government is now telling them they can’t play, when it has been them all along getting children to play the slot machines.

Opponents also say that slot machines make up 80 percent of the gambling market in their country. Even after all the new regulations, they say that almost 70% of the slot machines and other gambling are still illegal. Other countries in Europe have more like 30% slot machines, which they say is one more way that the Ukraine is keeping corruption in the market.

Those that have already gotten their licenses say that it is tough to operate with a license, as the rules keep changing on them. They say one thing about your slot machines one day, and the next day it is something completely different.
