Casinos Adding More Slot Machines

The River Cree and Century Casinos are bringing in more slot machines, based on reports from the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission. Because both casinos have the ability to add more slot machines because of the space that they have, the AGLC decided to give the River Cree 83 more slot machines, and Century received another 56 slot machines.

Both casinos just opened this time last year, with Century originally having 600 slot machines and the River Cree had 606 slot machines. The Enoch First Nation is located west of Edmonton and the Century Casino is located on Fort Road.

Edmonton has four other casinos as well, and they have added a total of 32 slot machines to bring the total slot machines in Edmonton o 3,253. The commission says that they determine how many slot machines each group gets by the mount of space that they have and how much revenue they are bringing in by their current slot machines.

All of the slot machines are actually owned by the AGLC and they receive 70% less operating costs from the machines. The casino gets 15% and the remaining 15% goes to charitable groups. The commission also owns 6,000 video lottery terminals that are found in Alberta’s bars and restaurants. The number of machines that are found have gotten less because of a concern that people were playing those instead of going to the casinos.
