Crimes Targeting Casinos are Up

Let's face it if you're going to rob something you're going to choose the place for you think has the most money. Those people who are starting to seek desperate measures for getting cash have started looking through the slot machines and the casinos as possibly their venue for that additional revenue. Across the nation casinos are reporting more and more crimes and police are overwhelmed by the additional crime.

One gentleman figured out that a glitch at a particular slot machine allow him to increase the amount of money that he was able to cash out. He would put in his money and cash out 10 times the amount, and managed to rip off the Silverton Casino as well as several others across the state for tens of thousands of dollars.

This is just an example of the kind of crime because he isn't the only one trying to rip off the slot machines. But it is not just their patrons, as a manager at one of the casinos was just arrested for allegedly embezzling money from one of the companies that provide slot machines to various destinations such as gas stations and grocery stores.

In Nevada alone gambling board agents have made almost 400 arrests of those trying to rip off slot machines or a casino in some way. They say that the poor economy is obviously turning people towards a life of crime in order to feed their children and keep their roofs over their heads.

But the casinos do not necessarily want to announce when they have been stolen from. They know that if patrons are aware that their slot machines are easy to rip off that they will be inundated with others trying the exact same thing. They will also have consumers who are hesitant to play at the casino for fear that they are getting ripped off by the casino. A glitch in the slot machine that hurts the casino could just as easily hurt the consumer.
