Bally Sues IGT

Bally Technologies is suing International Gaming Technologies. They have received a patent on the use of spinning wheel indicators on its slot machine bonus systems. They are suing IGT saying that their slot machines violate the patent and that they want it stopped.

This is the fifth time since 2004 the two companies have gone head to head in court. In May, IGT took Bally to court for their slot machines infringing on nine patents that they owned. Bally said that when they acquired Sierra Gaming two years ago, they got the patents under another company that Sierra owned, Arcade Planet.

IGT already has two pending lawsuits against Bally, and this is just one more wheel in the cog. The two companies keep going back and forth suing each other for various patent infringements. With all this suing going on, who has time to make the slot machines?
