Democrats Fighting for Ground

In the days leading up to the end of the legislature, Governor Schwarzenegger was a busy boy. He signed several Indian compacts to bring in thousands of slot machines and millions of dollars in revenue into the state of California. This, needless to say, made the Indian Tribes incredibly happy, especially since they did not expect this as the governor has always been very vocal in his opposition to the tribes.

However, one group this did not make happy was the democrats. The Indian Tribes are the base for a lot of their funding on their campaigns, and they need to keep that stronghold on their finances in order to run successful campaigns. It would definitely behoove the Dems to approve the compacts, but they had to say no to the deal, even though they knew it would cost them come Election Day.

Governor Schwarzenegger gets to watch all of this from his front row seat in his office, probably counting his blessings that things worked out the way they did, and knowing that his re-election was going to go much smoother this time around. After all, what if they had passed them all? Where would this have left him?
