License Commission Seeking Ban on SlotsThe License Commission is seeking a ban on all slot machines and video gaming devices. They are working in conjunction with the state police to have the machines eliminated. They want to see them removed from places such as bars, etc. that they are currently located in. In May, the commission unanimously voted to stop issuing licenses which should give strength to the ban. Earlier this year, the police raided several bars, clubs, and eating establishments and seized 38 slot machines, as well as roughly $10,000 in cash. The new ordinance does not allow for any type of slot machine or video gaming machine that could be used for gambling purposes. They have admitted that the new ordinance is not complete in its wording at this time, but they are going to work on it before it gets voted on in October. The Police Department will enforce the ban once passed, and anyone found violating the order would come before the licensing board. Any violation of the ordinance “shall be grounds for revocation of any license issued by the city of Chicopee and held by the violator, including a license to sell alcoholic beverages,” is how the ban currently reads. The committee wants to make sure that there is no wiggle room in interpreting the ban, so that justice can be swift. slot machine, slot machine, slot machine, slot machine Back to September Index - Slot Machines Fan |
