Out with the Old and In with the NewBelieve it or not, they did a study to see how old slot machines faired against new slot machines, and the new ones won. That seems like it might be fairly obvious, but some people don’t think so. That’s when they hire a professional to find out for them. Rhode Island brought in Gtech Holdings Corporation to see how they might increase lottery revenues. The lottery revenues come from part of what slot machines bring in, and they found that the new ones kicked butt over the old. They found that the new slot machines brought in three times more than the older machines, due to the look of the machines. They are many more lights, graphics and sounds, and are much more visually pleasing to the eye. Gerald Aubin of the Rhode Island Lottery said that he thought they were more like video games for their clients, and that the newer technology was drawing them in. They have decided to bring in more newer machines to replace some of the older ones. Gtech will be providing more updated games for the state, and between all of them working together, the state of Rhode Island should be seeing a major increase in slot machine revenue.
