Pauma Indians Join Mashantucket PequotsThe Mashantucket Pequot Tribe of Indians, the owners and operators of the world’s largest casino – Foxwoods, in Connecticut – has announced that they are joining forces with the Pauma Indian Band of Misson Indians. They have just decided on a partnership to build a new casino. They are planning a $300 million casino hotel in North County. They are going to build the new slot machine and gambling casino at Pauma, as the tribe knew that they needed a larger facility than the one they have been operating. "The (Pauma) Tribe recognized the need to develop their existing facility," said Gary Armentrout, spokesperson for Foxwoods. "And we felt we had the expertise to help them out. We are very proud to be working with another Native American tribe. This is truly a partnership." The casino has not yet been named, but will consist of more than 2,000 slot machines, as well as a hotel, a spa, a cabaret and five restaurants. There will also be gaming and poker tables for people to choose from. Pauma had signed a deal in 2004 with the state allowing them to increase the number of slot machines that they would be handling, it looks like that was a great move. With the new casino, New County will become the state’s largest Indian Gaming Corridor.
