Pocono Downs Slots ParlorThe Mohegan Sun is moving forward with their plans to open a slot machine parlor at Pocono Downs, and will be presenting their plans at a hearing today for the Gaming Control Board. If they are approved, they could receive a conditional slots license by the end of the month – which would allow them to bring in 1,080 slot machines. Robert Soper, CEO and President of Mohegan Sun, said they don’t have an official start date yet, but they think they should be right on track after the meeting. “We feel confident about our license application and our suitability, so we’re not too concerned about the process,” he said. Proponents of slot machines do not think there is any chance that Pocono Downs won’t be approved for a conditional slots license, as are the other horse tracks located in the state. The law allows seven licenses for racetracks, and only six have applied. All six racetracks are expected to make their cases this week at hearings, and the public is allowed to attend – although not allowed to speak. The Board met with each of the racetracks’ officials already, so there should not be any surprises as to what will be asked of them at this week’s hearings. The Board said they will be grilling them on everything from professionalism to their finances. slot machine, slot machine, slot machine, slot machine Back to September Index - Slot Machines Fan |
