Second Slot Machine Deal for CaliforniaCalifornia seems to be on a roll for the issuing of slot machines in their state. First they met with the Aqua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians in Palm Springs and made a deal to ratify their compact so that they can now bring in up to 5,000 slot machines and one more slot machine casino. It is currently making its way through the Legislature. The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is now looking at amending their gaming compact with the state as well, which would greatly increase the number of slot machines that the tribe currently has. Needless to say this is good news for the tribe as well as for California’s bottom line. The tribe needs to vote on it, and Governor Schwarzenegger needs to approve it before it can move on to the Legislature for ratification. The tribe has said they will vote on it as early as this week, with the whole tribe voting – or at least those who are 21 and over. If approved, the tribe would now have the ability to operate up to 7,500 slot machines, and would be responsible for paying the state an increased amount of revenue from the slot machines. The tribe is currently allowed only 2,000 machines, so this is a big jump for them. Back to September Index - Slot Machines Fan |
