Slot Profits are Not Trickling DownWhat happens when the more you make, the less you see? That is the question coming from the various towns in Connecticut as they know the slots are making more and more each day, yet they are getting less and less. The funds that used to come in regularly have been declining over the past few years, and people want to know why. The money that used to come in has been getting moved from local grants and has been redistributed without the communities’ approval. However, that is about to change. There was a reform passed in July that increased that amount to an annual amount of $750,000 which makes a lot of people very happy. The towns were originally receiving 78% of the slot machine revenue, and over the years it has dropped to 21% - which is ultimately a huge difference. The state is receiving roughly $430 million, so it is time they started passing some of that revenue back to the towns, especially those that house the casinos for they have the biggest expenses due to them being there.
