Pay Line - Paylines

A line across the glass on a slot machine game, whether it's pained on the glass or just a video image. The payline is where the symbols on the reels must land in order for a player to have a winning combination.

Originally slot machines had a single payline, but now it's common to see slot machines with as many as 3, 5, 9, 10, 15, or 20 paylines. On machines with larger numbers of paylines, the lines do not necessarily run straight across the screen in a horizontal manner.
